GR-1 Cuisinart sandwich grill and press: great machine does what it is suppose to do
My last birthday turned out to be very special because I’ve finally got a GR-1 Cuisinart sandwich grill as a present from my wife. I’ve been giving a lot of hints about the gift I am expecting for about half a year and finally I’ve got it!
Using Cuisinart device is really easy: all you have to do it prepare a sandwich and put it for a couple of minutes inside. It will come out hot and crispy and is going to spread an amazing tasty smell all over the house. I guess we all love there famous grill stripes? Cuisinart sandwich grill will make those on both: top and bottom pieces of bread!
The machine is perfectly tuned. It will not overcook sandwiches to burns or overheat them so ingredients like cheese or sauces will spill out. Meal is grilled to perfect state.
The body of Cuisinart sandwich grill looks well made and adjustable hinges are very handy when making panini of different heights. Plates are covered with modern non stick surface. Here is no need to add lubricant, but you can safely spray them with vegetable oil if you would like to.
GR-1 sandwich grill is small in size and takes very little space on the counter. But you have to pay the price for that: there are only two sandwiches can be fit inside at the moment.
There are a few downsides. The first one is hard cleaning. The cooking plates are can’t be removed from the device. They can be wiped with paper towels, but it would be really handy to wash them in the machine. It would also be great to have a power switch, because the only way of turning Cuisinart sandwich grill on and off is plugging in to electric socket.
There is a power cord storage space designed in the body of the grill, but in my opinion it is pretty useless. My Cuisinart sandwich grill is permanently resides on the counter and I don’t have to hide the cord.
I would say that George Forman G5 is the closest opponent for Cuisinart GR-1. It’s up to you to decide which one to buy, but I would recommend the Cuisinart item. It is simple, reliable and, what is most important, does it’s job nicely. Tasty panini is what you want from your sandwich grill. Am I right?
